Eric T. McKissack, CFA
Chief Executive Officer and Chief Investment Officer
As CEO and CIO (as well as Co-Founder and Founding Principal) of Channing Capital Management, LLC, Eric T. McKissack has over 22 years of investment experience. His primary responsibilities at Channing include client portfolio management and the management of the firm. Mr. McKissack was formerly Vice Chairman and Co-Chief Investment Officer of Ariel Capital Management, a Chicago-based investment management firm with over $10 billion in assets under management in 2002. In that capacity, Mr. McKissack served as the portfolio manager responsible for the Ariel Appreciation Fund, as well as numerous separate institutional client accounts. Prior to joining Ariel Capital Management in 1986, he worked for five years as a research analyst for First Chicago and First Chicago Investment Advisors, a predecessor company of Brinson Partners (now part of UBS ). Mr. McKissack received a BS in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and an MBA from the University of California at Berkeley . He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation.
Wendell E. Mackey, CFA
Founding Principal
Director of Investments
With 15 years of investment experience, Wendell E. Mackey serves as Founding Principal and Director of Investments for Channing. Mr. Mackey is primarily responsible for equity research, management of client portfolios, and management of the firm. He was formerly Senior Managing Director of Valenzuela Capital Partners, LLC, where he shared responsibility for managing the firm's assets, research staff, and the overall firm. Prior to Valenzuela Capital Partners, LLC, Mr. Mackey was a portfolio manager with Barnett Capital Advisors, primarily responsible for mid to large-cap equities. Before joining Barnett Capital Advisors, he served as a senior portfolio manager at NCM Capital Management Group. In that capacity his responsibilities included the leading role in managing NCM’s mutual fund sub-advisory relationship with the Calvert Group for its Social Investment Managed Growth Fund and the Calvert CRI Balanced Fund. Mr. Mackey received a BBA from Howard University and an MM from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, Northwestern University. He has also earned the Chartered Financial Analyst designation.
Jawanza T. Hughes
Senior Research Analyst
Jawanza Hughes joined Channing as Senior Research Analyst in early 2004. Mr. Hughes’ primary responsibilities include equity research, and management of client portfolios as a member of the firm’s investment team. He has 7 years investment experience and was formerly a research analyst covering a range of industries for Profit Investment Management. Prior to joining Profit Investment Management, he served as a research analyst with Ariel Capital Management where he covered the health care and environmental services industries for its small and mid-cap products. His prior experience includes three years at J.P. Morgan & Co. as an investment banking financial analyst, primarily focused on the asset management industry, in its Financial Institutions Group. Also, he is a former investment banking financial analyst with Kidder, Peabody & Co. Mr. Hughes holds a BA in Finance from Morehouse College (magna cum laude) and a MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Rodney B. Herenton
Founding Principal
Director of Marketing and Client Service
In addition to his roles as Co-Founder and a Founding Principal of Channing, Rodney Herenton is Director of Marketing and Client Service for the firm. He is primarily responsible for client service, business development, and the management of the firm. Mr. Herenton has over 15 years of corporate finance, mergers and acquisitions, and private placement experience. He was formerly First Vice President in the Private Fund Group at Morgan Keegan & Company, Inc. In this capacity, he was responsible for developing and marketing a private equity fund-of-funds focusing on buy-out and venture capital investments. Mr. Herenton joined Morgan Keegan in May of 1997 as a Vice President in the Consumer Products and Specialty Retail Group. Prior to joining Morgan Keegan, he was an Associate in the Investment Banking Department of Bear Stearns from 1995 to 1997, where he was responsible for deal execution of mergers and acquisitions, equity and high yield bond transactions. From 1993 to 1995, he was an Associate in the Corporate Finance Department of Lehman Brothers. Mr. Herenton received a BA degree in Finance from Morehouse College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
Dennis Dunn
Senior Equity Trader
Dennis Dunn is the Senior Equity Trader for Channing Capital Management, LLC. Mr. Dunn has over 30 years of equity trading experience. Mr. Dunn was formerly an equity trader with Gardner Rich & Company where he was the Head Trader. Prior to joining Gardner Rich & Company, Mr. Dunn served in senior level trading positions at Northern Trust Global Investments, Northern Trust Quantitative Advisors (Formerly ANB Investment Management), and Continental Illinois National Bank and Trust Company of Chicago. Mr. Dunn also served as past president of the Security Traders Association of Chicago.
Robin R. Anderson
Operations/Trading Associate
Robin R. Anderson, who joined Channing in December 2005, has over twelve years of administrative experience in support of trading and marketing departments. Her primary responsibilities include operations, trading, and client service support for the firm. Ms. Anderson was formerly portfolio manager’s assistant/back-up trader with Hotchkiss Associates LLC where she was responsible for client reconciliation, performance calculations, presentation material trade execution and operations. Prior to joining Hotchkiss Associates LLC, Ms. Anderson was a Marketing Assistant and Assistant Equity Trader for CSI Asset Management. Ms. Anderson received her AA degree from Central YMCA Community College.
Donna Harris
Administration Assistant / Office Manager
Donna Harris is the Administrative Assistant and Office Manager for Channing Capital Management, LLC. Ms. Harris brings over 24 years of office experience in both clerical and management positions. Ms. Harris served in various departments for AT&T which included Real Estate, Property Management and Building Operations. Prior to AT&T, Ms. Harris worked in sales and accounting for Illinois Bell Telephone.
